In life, we all have goals. There are always going to be things that we want to achieve. Some things will be big, others will be little. But, it quite often seems like the little things always seem to win. Because the bigger things can seem quite scary and, whether we realise it or not, we tend to stop ourselves from actually going after them. However, when you really do wish for these things to happen, they’re not going to go away. Whether these are career aspiration, life dreams, body goals, or anything else, if there’s something that you wish to do, you really do need to go after it. But if you still feel as if you’re not ready, you’re scared, or something is holding you back, then you’re going to want to try and do something about that. And that’s what we’re going to talk about in today’s post.
Now, having dreams can often seem like a burden. Because then you have to do something about them. However, when you don’t know what the future looks like, or when you might need to step out of your comfort zone to get things done, then it can be really intimidating. Because it’s much easier for you to stay the same and stick to your routine than make big changes. Yet, it’s also way more painful to do this than anything else. So, in order to help you to live the life you want, truly live, and enjoy your life, let’s take a look at what you might need to do.
1. You’re Not Getting Younger
First of all, you have to realise that you are not getting any younger. So if you think that you still have time. Or that you can do that one thing you really want to do another year. Or that you aren’t really on a time-scale for this. Whether it’s to lose 20lbs, dress in a different way, learn French, start a business, take up a hobby – whatever. You have the time now, but you may not tomorrow. Remember that.
2. It’s Now Or Never
So it really is now or never. It’s that simple! Tomorrow never comes, so now is the time to get those goals!
3. You Can Do It
So now that you know WHY you need to get going with your dreams, you need to BELIEVE that you can go after them. And that’s the thing that so many people struggle with. Because wanting something is easy, but then trusting in yourself to go get it is just as important. If you just start to believe in yourself, then you will be able to do it. Your mind is such a powerful and precious place. It really is. And you need to get it on your side. So just trust that you can do it.
4. Life Is Passing You By
Another thing to remember is that life is passing you by. So don’t you want to grab it and do something with it and enjoy it?
5. Never Regret
Also, you just do not want to have regrets. This is just the bottom line of things. You want to make sure that you love your life. That you can live without regrets. And that you actually DO what YOU want with your life. THIS is the sole reason for WHY you just have to go after what you want.
6. Dream Big
Now, you are always going to have a TON of people telling you that you need to be realistic when you’re goal setting. That you need to make sure that your goals are achievable – and you do. But in the process, do not limit yourself. Do not hold yourself back. Instead, dream big. And yes, you can set goals and achieve what you want in the most amazing of ways. You don’t have to plan goals that suit your lifestyle now, you can reach for more. So do it!
7. Have Confidence In Yourself
And of course, you then need to make sure that you do have that confidence in yourself. It’s not just about thinking ‘yes, I can do this’ – but then reverting back to your natural mindset and doubting yourself. So if you’re not naturally confident, then you need to work on boosting your self-confidence. And you need to commit to doing this if you’re serious about achieving your goals.
8. Start To Take Things Seriously
But then, you need to get serious about this. Don’t just fire yourself up and get excited about these goals and let yourself get back into your everyday routine. Remember, it’s just so easy to revert back to your normal, natural state (just like the mindset, your actions apply here too). You need to think more seriously about these goals and HOW you can achieve them.
9. Break It All Down
To do that, you’re going to want to break it down. The idea of changing your body or starting a business or stepping out of your comfort zone in any other way, is scary. But when you think about it seriously and break it all down into ways that you can actually make it happen, it’s no longer scary, but doable.
10. Create A Plan
And then you need a plan. Yes, that’s right, you need to sit down and strategize exactly HOW you’re going to make this work. Because just having a dream in your head is not a way to actually get it. It’s a way to fail. Instead, you need to be able to have a plan for your goals. So open a notebook or a spreadsheet or just take notes to start with, and then figure out what achieving your goals actually looks like in real life.
11. Know What You Need
Now that you have a plan, you might find that you need to get your resources together. Because for a lot of things that you want to do are going to need money or help or equipment. This could be that you need to raid your savings or look into guarantor loans or even buy the right things for this. From fitness equipment to courses to flights, whatever you need – you might want to invest in this or get things you need together.
12. Be Proactive
Now, when it comes to achieving things, you need to make sure that you are being proactive about this. You just cannot set your goals and hope that they happen. Remember – hope is not a strategy. So, you have to actively go after these goals. You need to take the steps to start working towards your goals.
13. Jump Right On In
The best way to make things happen and to actually start getting on your goal-meeting path, you need to just get going. And the best way to do that is to have those actionable steps and actually know when you’re going to do them. Proactivity is important, but you also need to know what you need to do to just get things done.
14. Love The Journey
But then something that you really need to realize here, is that this is not just about achievement. Goal setting and then working to achieve those goals is something that you’re doing to feel a certain way. To enjoy your life. To add to your life. It’s not about ticking something off. Because if you aren’t doing this to benefit your life or feel good, you’ll get to the end goal and still feel exactly the same as you did when you start. And this is why you need to enjoy the journey. What you’re doing to achieve those goals IS the whole idea of this. It’s about becoming a better person and loving your life.
15. Trust In Yourself
Finally, you absolutely need to make sure that you trust yourself and what you want to achieve. You need to trust in your own skills and passions, knowing that you can do this and this is all meant to be. Because if you just breathe, relax, and let yourself be, then you’re going to nail it. So really get into your fitness journey, or your skills test, or building your business, and make sure that you’re really making things work.
And there you have it. Now, at first, when you start to think about going after your goals, it can kind of seem overwhelming. You may even pretend that you really don’t want to go after the dreams after all. But that’s just you hiding from yourself. And yes, it will come back to bite you in the butt! So, it’s way better to know what you want, really push on forward, and start to make things happen. When you plan it all out, you’ll start to realize that it’s not that big of a job after all. And even more so, you will find that after you take the first step, you’ll realize that it’s also not that scary – because you’re already moving closer to your dreams.
