What should you be in a world where you can be anything?

2003 – The Black Eyed Peas asked the world ‘Where is the love?’.

2018 – Jaime Jean Morton is asking the world, ‘Where is the love?’.

Guys and gals, tell me now, when did it become so OK to be a complete dick to another person?

So many times lately, I’ve found myself really shocked by the way people act towards others, and then literally brush it off like it’s no big deal. ER… not OK! But it’s got me thinking.

What should you be in a world where you can be anything? Google it.

In a world where you can be anything, be kind.

I don’t know who the first person was to say this, but I’m thinking they must have been incredibly ambitious. Valid point mate, but easier said than done, right?

No matter what we do, there are always going to be those people that we just don’t like, or whose opinions we think are complete bullshit. And there are always going to be those people who do something so annoying that it sets you off ranting for the next three months.

What we can do, though?

We can treat others the way we want to be treated.

Put yourself in their shoes… even if your shoes are from Primark (like me) and they wear Louboutins.

If you can figure out how someone is going to feel by the way you act towards them, you’ll probably find yourself thinking twice before you go and upset them (intentionally or not).

If you’ve got nothing nice to say, then don’t say anything.

Yep – hello Mum. If your Mum has never told you that if you’ve got nothing nice to say, then don’t say anything at all is she even your Mum? But, it’s true. Sometimes it’s better to just keep your mouth shut.

Be polite.

AH what! Am I a Mum before I’ve even had kids? I think so. I’m constantly nagging my (one-year younger than me) sister to say please and thank you. I’m half expecting her to tell me to do one one day. But seriously, being polite gets you place in this world, so don’t forget your pleases and thank yous.

And always be kind.

I know I know, you’re probably thinking: Yes Jaime, we get it! But don’t worry, I’ll shut up very soon, I promise.

Kindness is contagious and it makes people feel good. So people, let’s smile a little more, tell Sandra from reception that you like her new top and treat others as you wish to be treated.

Let’s FINALLY show The Black Eyed Peas where the love is.
